I had a question about this. If one is interdependent, is it true that one is also a total follower as well as a submissive thinker? Also would a genuine independent thinker be wrong, based upon his thinking of himself and not his thinking of others? Finally, would a rebel thinker's "always no" response be based solely on his thoughts of himself, therefore possibly fitting him ino the category of a genuine independent thinker?
ReplyDeleteOnce a person reaches real cognitive maturity, he is independent with respect to most people, interdependent with respect to some, and submitted with respect to a few.
ReplyDeleteIndependence is not a matter of thinking "of" yourself, but rather thinking "for" yourself. Many level three people are quite considerate of others, but all their considerations are ultimatey decided by their own views and reflection. Independence is not selfishness. Instead, it is self-guidedness.
I think this answers your third question.
